A public lecture titled “Research Methods: Issues and Challenges in the Field Audit” was successfully held in International Class C, FEB UMSU. The event was directly attended by the Director of International Affairs and Cooperation at UMSU, Rafieqah Nalar Rizky, M.A., featuring Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halim bin Mad Lazim from Universiti Utara Malaysia as the keynote speaker.

Held in International Class C on October 21, 2026, the activity was designed to equip FEB UMSU students and young researchers with a comprehensive understanding of auditing research methodologies. The lecture covered various approaches, ranging from archival quantitative methods, behavioral experiments, and qualitative field studies to the application of computational analysis and artificial intelligence (AI) in the digital era.

The session was delivered through an interactive presentation in International Class C, followed by an engaging Q&A discussion. Through this approach, participants learned how to address endogeneity challenges, uphold data integrity and ethics, and apply scientific validity principles when designing high-quality audit research.

Link and Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The objectives of this activity fundamentally contribute to SDG 4: Quality Education while indirectly supporting SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. The primary goal of this event held in International Class C was to enhance students’ academic capacity and research methodology literacy in the digital age. In terms of SDG 4, this initiative supports inclusive and globally competitive higher education at FEB UMSU by promoting research ethics, data validity, and the responsible use of technology in academic inquiries. Furthermore, for SDG 16, it fosters high-quality, objective, and accountable audit research, which serves as a vital foundation for strengthening institutional governance, preventing fraud, and enhancing financial transparency across both public and private sectors.
